Music Lessons

Lessons at Koinonia are offered on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. Students are not only engaged in understanding their individual instrument or voice type, they are also introduced to music theory and history. Each student is placed on an individual learning and growth plan based on their ability level. At Koinonia, we currently offer lessons in the following areas:
Voice
Voice lessons are designed to improve each student's singing voice and develop the ability to sing successfully in front of others. During their course of study, they will be taught the fundamentals of healthy vocal production which includes the following: 1) proper posture and breathing to sing, 2) tone production, 3) diction, 4) expression, and 5) gaining confidence. Individual vocal problems will be assessed and exercises will be given to help strengthen and improve the voice.
Piano
Private piano lessons are a study of the essential elements of music as they relate to the development of piano performance skills. Musical learning includes reading and notating music, analysis of music, listening skills, sightreading, appropriate use of musical terminology, and expressive piano performance skills.
Percussion
Percussion Lessons are designed to give a comprehensive overview of the percussion world as well as the necessary skills to teach and play the main battery of percussion instruments, including snare drum and accessory percussion. You will also gain a basic understanding of world percussion, and drum set.
Saxophone
Through private lessons in saxophone, students develop and
increase technical proficiency on their instrument, become familiar with the standard repertoire for the saxophone, and develop and increase their level of musicality. This is
accomplished through a variety of means, including work on scales, technical studies, etudes, and assigned pieces from saxophone literature.

Rates
One-Time Registration Fee $25.00
Materials Fees (Annual) $25.00
Lessons are offered four (4) times monthly (once per week). In the case of months with five (5) weeks, the fifth week is free and included in the monthly rate.
If the students must reschedule a lesson, at least 2 hour notice must be given. Lessons missed due to the absense of the student, in which proper notice has been given, will be rescheduled. Those absences where proper notice was not given will only be rescheduled at the discrection of the instructor.
